Over the weekend, the Knights Varsity baseball team played in the Alva Baseball Tournament, ultimately winning with a record of 3-1. On Thursday, the Knights played the Alva Goldbugs, winning 5-1. Owen C ’21 was the winning pitcher for Crossings. He surrendered one run on one hit over five innings, striking out four. Trip D ’18 threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Trip recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Knights.
After the Knights defeated Alva, they took on Liberal High School from Kansas. Liberal was victorious against the Knights winning the game, 9-3. Guy W ’20 took the loss for Crossings. He allowed eight hits and nine runs over six innings, striking out two. Trip D ’18, Tucker D ’20, Cole M ’19, Guy W ’21, and Trent M ’19 each managed one hit to lead the Knights. Cole M ’19 led CCS with two stolen bases, as the Knights ran wild on the base paths stealing a total of nine bases.
On Friday morning, the Knights faced Guymon High School in the first game of a double header. Crossings held off a late rally by the Tigers, winning 7-4. Tucker D ’20 led the Knights to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out six. Trip D ’18 threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen to earn the save. Cole M ’19 went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Crossings in hits. Crossings had a total of 14 stolen bases and Cole M ’19 recorded 7 of the steals.
In the second game of the double header on Friday, the Knights faced Perry High School, winning 2-1. Trip D ’18 took the win for Crossings. He went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six in a pitchers duel. Owen C ’21 led the Knights with two hits in three at bats in the game.
