Academic Bowl

Crossings participates in the OSSAA Academic Bowl competition at the varsity level and in OAAC league play from 4th grade through 10th grade. Academic Bowl competition consists of teams of 4 students competing against each other on buzzers. Team tryouts are in the early fall.

Scholastic Testing

Middle School scholastic competitors take written tests in six subjects (Current Events, Humanities, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies) at local tournaments to qualify for a state tournament. Tryouts take place in early fall.

Upper School scholastic competitors test in subjects that they are currently taking in school. As a result, qualifying tournaments and the state tournament take place in late spring. Teachers recommend top performers in their classes for testing, therefore no tryouts are held

CCS participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition. The school-wide, regional and state level spelling bees take place during the winter. Competition in the National Geographic Bee also occurs in the winter.
