CCS Holds On For Victory As Cashion Almost Erases 7-Run Deficit

The Knights built a seven-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Cashion’s charge for a 9-7 victory on Thursday. Cashion scored four runs in the sixth inning, but the Knights still managed to pull out the victory. Crossings Christian Knights opened up scoring in the first inning. Owen C ’21 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Cashion evened things up at one in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run for Cashion. The Knights pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Trent M ’19 homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. Crossings put up five runs in the fifth inning. Crossings batters contributing to the big inning included Guy W ’20, Cole M ’19, Owen C ’21, Trent M ’19, and Carter L ’20, all knocking in runs in the inning. Trip D ’18 got the win for Crossings Christian Knights. He surrendered seven runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out eight. Crossings collected 11 hits on the day. Owen C ’21 and Jonah M ’21 all managed multiple hits for the Knights. Owen C ’21 went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Crossings in hits. Owen C ’21 led The Knights with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
