The cross-country program at Crossings Christian School is made up of students who are passionate about running and interested in pushing themselves both physically and mentally. The Bible often uses physical exercise, especially the act of running a race, as an analogy to the life of a Christian. Hebrews 12:1-2 urges Christians to “…run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.”
These verses encompass the goal of the Crossings cross-country program. We want our runners to train and compete with the goal of getting the most out of their physical abilities as possible, while keeping their eyes fixed on Christ. The friendship between teammates is a special aspect of cross-country, as the student-athletes train together daily and compete both individually and as a team throughout the season. It is our prayer that the runners will train diligently and the discipline developed in cross-country will extend to all other areas of their lives as well.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
